鶹 added three new Board of Trustees members at the May 2026 meeting on Friday. Kim Barrett, Marc Doble ’02, and Stephen McCormack have all joined the board, bringing extensive backgrounds in higher education, biotechnology, and healthcare.

“Having a board with rich skills, expertise, and competencies aligned with our institutional purpose strengthens the board and allows us to provide the guidance that advances our institute and programs,” said Board Chair Ross Grossman. “All three of our new trustees bring experience and insights that will be of tremendous value to the board and the institution.”

“I appreciate the collective experience of our three new members that is deeply rooted and relevant to serving and enhancing 鶹’s mission and their passion to serve 鶹 in this capacity,” said President Mohamed Abousalem. “I look forward to collaborating with all three as we continue to elevate the excellence of 鶹’s offerings to ensure that we continue to be on the cutting edge of the biotech and healthcare industries.”

Prior to working at UC Davis, Barrett served in a variety of roles at University of California, San Diego’s School of Medicine.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the Board of Trustees for the 鶹,” Barrett said. “I am excited by and personally aligned with 鶹’s mission to develop the next generation of leaders in biotechnology, healthcare and research, and the impact that this will have on societal well-being.  With a deep appreciation for the critical value of graduate education, particularly in biomedical and health fields, I hope to be able to bring well-honed perspectives to the Board’s deliberations.

Barrett earned a bachelor’s degree in medicinal chemistry and a Ph.D. in molecular chemistry from University College London.

Marc DobleDoble is the second 鶹 alumnus to serve on the board and is currently vice president and general manager for Amgen’s Biosimilars business unit. Doble has been with Amgen for 20 years and was part of 鶹’s first graduating class in 2002 from the Master of Business and Science program.

“I am honored to join the Board of Trustees of 鶹,” said McCormack. “鶹’s distinctive focus on the convergence of biotechnology, engineering, and healthcare is vital to training future leaders, and I look forward to supporting its continued impact. For me, this is a meaningful full‑circle moment, having been part of the Institute’s original founding management team.”
